Stalking Horses for Jacqui, Haggis Bashing for Gordon and Balls

Written by Jack

What IS a Stalking Horse?

The BallsA "stalking horse" was trained to conceal the hunter walking behind it; the practice allowed human predators to sneak up on their prey without attracting suspicion. In modern political applications of the phrase, a stalking horse is a candidate used to divert attention from someone else's candidacy.

For example; if Jacqui Smith the current Home Secretary were to challenge Gordon Brown for leadership, she might use one of the Balls to act as her stalking horse. This would probably generate a real tug-of-war with Jacqui pulling the Balls one way, while Gormless Gordon would be claiming "I've got the Balls".

Yesterday's Ripped Headlines from The Teamusk Times captures this image perfectly.

Will Jacqui Pull the Balls off Gormless??

Original Ripped Headline text and images

What is Haggis Bashing

Lord Desai, who is emeritus professor of economics at the London School of Economics, is known at Westminster as an outspoken maverick. He told Sky News, "Gordon Brown is more like porridge or haggis".

Brown is Bagged in a Right Haggis and Chips - Supper for the NationLord Desai was comparing personal characteristics of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. This has led to a change in nicknames for the current Prime Minister from Gormless Gordon to Haggis Brown.

The use of "haggis" as a derogatory term might be far more accurate than His Lordship intended...

The main ingredients of haggis are: sheep's heart, liver, lungs and stomach lining. Therefore, Lord Desai of St Clement Danes (what a wonderful title) could be inferring that Haggis Gormless Brown is a "SHEEP" in politician's clothing for haggis is far from a bland dish when served in the approved manner.

Haggis can be served in Scottish fast-food establishments deep fried in batter. Together with chips, this comprises a "haggis supper" (actually, it does taste surprisingly good). A "haggis burger" is a patty of fried haggis served on a bun, and a "haggis bhaji" is another deep fried variant, available in some Indian restaurants in Glasgow.

The sport of "haggis bashing" is a game often played by English football fans and usually starts of with references to Scotland's failed World Cup tournament in Argentina and then follows up with a litany of Scottish goalkeeping calamities in various competitions during the last 30 years. However, in more enlightened company, haggis bashing is used to describe any comment that derides any part of the Scottish way of life by a non Scottish person.

Personally, I like haggis served in the traditional manner with "neeps and tatties" washed down with many glasses of Whiskey.

Lord Desai of St Clement Danes should hang his head in shame. Associating haggis with a washed out over inflated bag of political bones is beyond the Pail.

If you have read this far; stand and raise your glass to "The Haggis!"

Maybe Haggis Brown will end up "An cut you up wi ready slight" at the next election.

St Clement Danes WITFIT (Where in the F*%k is That)

St Clement Danes is a church in the City of Westminster, London. It is situated outside the Royal Courts of Justice on the Strand. The current building was completed in 1682 by Sir Christopher Wren.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Clement_Danes

The church is sometimes claimed to be the one featured in the nursery rhyme Oranges and Lemons and the bells do indeed play that tune.

So, is the mischievous Lord Desai of St Clement Danes a "Lemon" or a sour "Jaffa"?

Why Mention the Balls

Ed Balls Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families.

All Possible Friends According to The Public Whip

Shows which MPs voted most similarly to Balls in the 2005 (current April 2008) Parliament. This is measured from 0% agreement (never voted the same) to 100% (always voted the same). Only votes that both MPs attended are counted. This may reveal relationships between MPs that were previously unsuspected.

Mr and Ms Balls
Cabinet husband-and-wife team Ed Balls and Yvette Cooper have been accused of exploiting Commons expenses rules to buy a £655,000 home and get their children into a top state school.

Is Yvette Cooper a Unicorn?

Could Yvette be that illusive beast (unicorn)? She might be the politician that actually means what (s)he says? Or is it all balls?

Balls 2 BallsOr it may be nonsense and Jacqui really does own the Balls, but she is NOT mentioned in the list... Gormless is also absent without leave!
