Sunderland (Wonderland) visit Liverpool tonight in what should be a very hard-to-win match. However, Liverpool's home record is good and they've got pride at stake after last weekends disaster, which has virtually finished the title chase. Sunderland are mid-table and will welcome a point and be delight to swipe all three into the bag.
I'm going down the tried and tested route. Lay the odds on for minimum liability, trade out for minimum profits if the score is 0-0 after 35/45 minutes or sooner if Sunderland score first.
The match is live on Sky, so I can track progress in real time.
That's the plan and here's my initial screen:
Other Matches Tonight and Updates
Portsmouth v Chelsea - I'm putting this one on hold, although I think it might well be a low score at halftime, probably 0-0
West Brom v Arsenal - 4 straight 0-0's will probably mean Arsenal are going to give the Baggies a right thumping. I'm going to let this one go in-play or maybe go for a correct score punt 0-4.
In the end I went for the lower odds offered for a combined score of 4 or more. Only a fiver and I don't expect an in-play trade option, so it's a straight punt on a gut feeling that Arsenal will eventually give somebody a thrashing!! Poor old Baggies.
Almost a record time for a green trade. I left more profit on 4 or more goals, but I'm happy with the first 15 minutes turning up a 1-1 score line.
At least £4.75 can be added to my personal fortune and my stake is back in-play...
Liverpool just kicked off and they made the usual surge forward. This one might be interesting.
£8.74 added with low risk and hardly any liability... really should do that bet more often.
Liverpool 0-0 after 30 minutes but the odds have hardly shifted. No trade possible yet.
As per the original plan; I closed my Liverpool Lay bet in favour of Liverpool to win. Sunderland played well in the first half, but I find it hard to believe they will score. It's just to risky to continue the bet as Gerard looks lively and almost any Liverpool attack could wipe my Lay bet.
Therefore, I went green and here's my final screen:
Tonight's bets will produce at least a tenner maybe a bit more if Liverpool win.
Low stakes, minimum risk.
This Betfair experiment is closed, unless there's something offshore to play with later tonight!
I found a couple of good chances; one in Italy and the other in France.
Both were odds on a 0-1 when I placed the Lay bets.
The Italians once again turned up trumps, while the French bet is looking a bit sick.
At the worst outcome, my personal fortune increases by £3.15 not bad for 5 minutes work!
