Last night's 3 bets on Championship games ended in disaster due to Betfair disallowing In-play bets for this particular set of league matches.
I have since found out that Betfair publishes a list of football matches where In-play bets are allowed for the whole 90 minutes (subject to conditions).
This is the list for today:
Wed 11th March
09:00 Central Coast v Pohang Steelers
10:00 Kawasaki v Tianjin Teda
11:00 Samsung Bluewings v Kashima
12:00 Bunyodkor v Ettifaq
12:00 Sepahan v Al Shabab
13:30 Al Jazira v Umm-Salal
17:00 MTK Budapest v Upjest
17:30 Al Ittihad v Esteghlal
19:45 Barcelona v Lyon
19:45 Man Utd v Inter
19:45 Porto v Atl Madrid
19:45 Roma v Arsenal
20:00 Fulham v Blackburn
22:30 Everton De Vina v Lanus
00:50 Chico v Gremio
00:50 Deportivo Tachira v Deportivo Cuenca
03:10 Guadalajara v Caracas FC
Not exactly awe-inspiring is it?
I've £30 to make up from last night's losses, so it's back to the tried and tested Lay-the-Favourite and hope for a slow start or opposition to score first. Then trade for a green book when the favourites odds drift out.
That's the plan and Barcelona v Lyon & Man Utd v Inter are the targets.
Here's my Betfair screens so far:
Barcelona v Lyon Lay Bet Summary
Barcelona are favourite not only for tonight's match but also favourites to WIN the cup in May's final. However, Lyon have a fine tradition for battling against the odds and they only need to score one away goal to swing the odds in my favour.
Therefore, I have taken two Lay bets on Barca in anticipation of an early upset:
It figures that if Lyon do score first then both markets will lengthen the odds on Barca and I can then place a Back bet to get the all important green book. The "To Qualify" Lay also carries forward to extra time and penalties if required.
Man Utd v Inter Lay Bet Summary
I think Inter will come out with all guns blazing for the first 15 minutes. That's always been Mourinho's tactics and with any kind of luck they'll snatch an early away goal. No "To Qualify" bet for this one, as it really is to close to call and I'm relying a luck to get my green trade.
In the end I decided to Lay Man U in a "To Qualify" bet give four bets for tonight's footbal
Fixtures 11 March / Man Utd v Inter / To Qualify Man Utd Lay @ 1.49 £20.00 Liability £9.80
Halftime 1-0 and too close to call; Inter need to score two to qualify and while it's possible they stop firing blanks when close in on goal.
Fixtures 11 March / Barcelona v Lyon / To Qualify Barcelona Lay @ 1.18 £15.00 Liability £2.70
This one is done and dusted with Barca 4-1 at halftime
Fixtures 11 March / Man Utd v Inter / Match Odds Man Utd Lay @ 1.68 £10.00 Liability £6.80
Inter had a number of chances to score in the first half and you never know... a draw might be on the cards? Either way, this one is not going to extra time.
Fixtures 11 March / Barcelona v Lyon / Match Odds Barcelona Lay @ 1.43 £15.00 Liability £6.45
Barca massacre but this game was always going to be risky. What price Liverpool v Barca as a semi-final draw? £9.15 down on the two Barca Lay bets and no chance of recovery.
I'm going to have to be on-my-toes tonight or things really could go tits-up very quickly!
It should be a great night's football and I'm really looking forward to extra special goals and exciting finishes (like last night).
My liability is £33.55 and profits could be quite good with an outside possibility of regain last night's lost fortune...
Fingers crossed.
Fixtures 11 March / Porto v Atl Madrid / To Qualify Porto Lay @ 1.43 £10.00 Liability £4.30
0-0 at halftime Atl Madrid need to win or draw 2-2 and this looks unlikely unless they get lucky in the second half. there's still a chance of a trade here. However, Porto go through if it's a draw and my Lay bet is tits-up.
Fixtures 11 March / Roma v Arsenal / To Qualify Arsenal Lay @ 1.36 £10.00 Liability £3.50
Traded out for a green book, as I wanted to recycle the stake money - Profit: £2.09 regardless of outcome.
That's covered the lot... hoping for some early goals in my favour.
Not to Be... When You Chase Losses; You ALWAYS Catch Them
Just Arsenal left playing and I've already closed out that position.
Bugger, fart and shag the cat.
